Please be very, very, careful where you adopt a puppy!!!!!!
We know you are anxious but being patient can produce a much happier outcome.....
Signs to look
for:
What would make me suspicious would be:
1. You are not screened when adopting a puppy
2. Newspaper ads
3. Multiple breeds being produced
4. Puppies always available
5. No guarantee or contract
6. Not registered
7. People want to meet you rather than come to their home
8. Don't have the parents of the puppy - no lineage known
9. They don't want to send you parent or litter pictures
One cannot be too cautious when planing for the adoption of a new furry family member.
Please also be very careful with checking the pedigrees of the puppies for the amount
of inbreeding and line breeding done.
Don't be afraid to ask questions:
Where are your dogs kept?
How many dogs do you have?
What do you feed your dogs?
Who is your Vet?
Where do you sell your puppies?
How many breeds do you have?
What happens to the dogs when they are done being bred?
Are there any health issues in your lines that you know of?
Do you offer a guarantee?
Are your dogs registered?
If for some reason one cannot keep a dog, do you take them back?
Do you have both parents of the puppies? If not, where is the other?
Can I see the pedigrees of the dogs?
Could I come to visit at your convenience?
Do you have a waiting list or do you always breed your dogs?
What
happens to puppies you can't sell?
